Off topic: I'm looking for cheap accomodation in London Thread poster: Marina Capalbo

Hello, I need to attend a CELTA course in London, probably in August, from 1 Aug to 1 Sep.
I was wondering whether some of you has a spare room to rent (self catering or possibly half-board)
I'm looking for cheap accomodation because the course is quite expensive for my budget.

Hi Marina,
I would not rent a room online.
Best thing is to search a cheap b&B/guesthouse and then searching a room once you're in London.
If you have other questions, feel free to drop an email.
Best of luck

That's how I find a flat when I live in the UK.
You may find short term lets from students going on holiday or back home for the summer.

Buongiorno Marina!
There is a magazine for the Brazilian community in London which has some advertisements for accommodation in London. Most of them are in Zones 2 and 3, but as I am not a London person (my family hails from Coventry) possibly some Londoner among us could shed light on the districts.
You mentioned you want something cheap - what do you mean by "cheap"?

There is a magazine for the Brazilian community in London which has some advertisements for accommodation in London. Most of them are in Zones 2 and 3, but as I am not a London person (my family hails from Coventry) possibly some Londoner among us could shed light on the districts.
You mentioned you want something cheap - what do you mean by "cheap"?
The issue of the magazine I have is that of December 2009 when I visited the UK, so the advertisements may have changed, but as a guide of prices (no reference to quality) I could mention:
Single Room Wimbledon - ₤ 85 per week including bills
South Norwood / Croydon - ₤ 110 per week
Seven Sisters - ₤ 80 per week
Blackhorse Station - ₤ 100 per week
If you access the magazine, you will probably see the words "quarto" and "vaga". The difference is that "quarto" is your own room, while with a "vaga" you will be sharing a room with one or more people.
As most advertisements are in Portuguese, you also need to know that "quarto de casal" is a double room, "quarto de solteiro" is a single room. "Perto de estação" means "near a station". Most words are similar to the Italian so should not be too difficult to understand.

Marina,
I forgot to say that when you enter the page you need to choose "Páginas Verde-Amarelas" and then "Acomodação/Alojamento".
The telephone numbers given are of the actual people (or sometimes of the estate agent) so you can contact them directly. | | | juvera Local time: 20:15 English to Hungarian + ... Where in London | Apr 8, 2010 |
First of all, tell us where the course will take place, because London is too big to stay just anywhere. Apart from the travelling cost, it could take you ages to get to your destination if your lodgings are too far.
