Fellow ProZers,

I just glanced at a KudoZ question and found this warning in the ask the asker box:

This area should be used only for linguistic discussions on the question.
Commenting on answers (1) or participants (2), or attempting to influence others` decisions (3) is not allowed.

What on earth does that mean? And why is it so garbled? Shouldn't the grammar be corrected? What about the backwards numbering (since when to parenthetical numbers come after the option they identify)? Why is this necessary?

I would be very interested in hearing others opinions about the need for such a warning.

Saludos,

Hi Patricia,

This was a bug, a text shown by mistake, already hidden.

Thanks for reporting this.

Regards,
Enrique

Yes, it had already gone when I went back to look for it. Aug 6, 2008

In fact I had taken it to be another measure, like the call for references independent of answering posts, to streamline the information which we tend to place rather haphazardly around our responses (yes, I'm certainly guilty).

A useful linguistic comment is more likely to be noticed in a section like this one than as part of someone's "agree".

First, thanks, Enrique and AceAvila, for the explanation. After posting this thread, I saw the one on the "references" option, and that seems to make more sense!

Patricia
