I am planning on taking the DPSI exam next year and I am looking into the courses available in London. Quite a few of them, huge differences in enrolment fees... Difficult to pick one really.
Some feedback on from anyone who has taken the course would help enormously.
Would you have anything to say good or bad about...?

Hi,
I did the course (English-Spanish, legal option)at the College of Northwest London and passed the exam with good marks (all "merit" and one "pass"), especially if you consider that I am Italian. I completely understand your confusion/doubts about which course to choose, because I had exactly the same. When you see that there is such a difference in price, you tend to think that this might mean that the cheapest course is not as good as a more expensive one. To be honest, I can't judge ... To be honest, I can't judge on that, because I have only done the course at the College of Northwest London. However, I can tell you that my overall opinion on the course is good. I thought the teachers were very good and helpful. Nevertheless, you still have to study hard at home and do lots of research. Finally,the college itself doesn't look very nice, but in my opinion this is not relevant.

I also took DPSI course and sat the exam at College of North West London and it was ok; the classes themselves were a bit funny at times as you felt like were back at primary school - drawing pictures and all but all in all it was well worth it.
it was divided into two parts - general classes with all language groups once a week (4 hours if I remember well) and your native language classes every fornight for 2 hours or so.
You learn a lot about the English legal system and fa... You learn a lot about the English legal system and familiarise yourself with court procedures etc; it's very helpful.
As per tutorials - well, it really depends on individual tutors but this aspect counts the most, doesnt' it.

It looks like the North London College course is the best known one and the one most people seem to have done. They also seem to have a lot of resources and they run all options (legal, health, local government) and plenty of different languages.

The Goldsmith College course seems to be well set up too but I haven't come accross anyone who can give me feedback on it yet. All I know is it is a bit shorter than the North London College one (30 weeks as opposed to 38 and 4 hours a week: Sat 10 to 2 as opposed to 10 to 3.30 in North London).
I have also been wondering about the different options: legal, health, local government. Most people seem to do the legal one. Would that be because it offers more job options than the other two?

Hello Carola,
The initial course assessment for admission to the course includes two tasks: translation of a medical, legal or government text (according to the DPSI option you wish to take, I presume) from English into your mother tongue and another text from mother tongue into English.

The initial course assessment for admission to the course includes two tasks: translation of a medical, legal or government text (according to the DPSI option you wish to take, I presume) from English into your mother tongue and another text from mother tongue into English.
For more detailed information about the course, you can contact the Course Information Center at [email protected].
If you are interested in the course, you need to send a preenrolment application. The CIC will post one to you if you send them your details.
After you send your application, they will give you an appointment for your assessment interview. I sent my application a few weeks back and last week I have received a letter with details of my assessment interview, which will take place on August 31st.
As far as I know you only work with two languages: English and your mother tongue.

i'm a little disappointed, 'cause i'm italian but i'd like to keep on working with arabic ( i'm studying it) but i'm far from having a good level...what can i do?
