Liability insurance needed for medical interpreters?

Are medical interpreters out there purchasing liability insurance to cover themselves (like doctors and nurses) against malpractice suits? A medical interpreter who is an independent contractor would not be covered for liability by the agency/company that contracted and sent him/her to the medical facility, correct? Any info would be very helpful! Thanks
