Dear colleagues,
is there a way to search the actual online content of a web site rather than the one cached by Google. Sites that have been just recently put online are not in Google. One has to wait till the big Google search engine comes by next time.
I want to search through the just modified web page of a railway site. Is there another tool to have done this?
thanks
Noe

Similar services are being offered by MSN and yahoo aswell, but I guess Google is the biggest and probably the best of the lot.

If the site is brand new and hasnt been added to any search directories (Google, Yahoo, et al) then the only means of finding them is by chance (entering random IP's or URL's into IE). Of course, if you already know the URL you just type manually into the address bar of your web browser.

Im not quite sure what you mean here.

If the site is already in the Google listing, you know the site has recently changed but you still see the old version, then the problem isn't Google. This would suggest that either your internet provider is using a proxy server or your internet settings arent set to check for newer versions of webpages on every visit. To bypass both of these, manually type the desired URL into the address bar of your web browser and add a question mark at the end.

You have to wait

Search engines use *only* cached content. If the site has been just updated, you have to wait until the search engine's robot updates the cache.
Searching "live" content is possible only using the website's internal search engine (if it exists). Or you could use a tool to download the whole website to your computer and search it offline.
