Dear Prozians,
Online Hindi Translation is much difficult than that of English one as the translator can't see the characters (Hindi one).

Dear Prozians,
Online Hindi Translation is much difficult than that of English one as the translator can't see the characters (Hindi one).
I sufferred from the problems recently where I had to do translation without having a look over it even.
I was unhappy to say outsourcer 'no' after being unable to do that long job in a short span of time. It was a big job for me. REMEMBER, that the no. of words was not that much, but there were lot of complications such as slow server, need to translate without looking at Hindi characters etc.
What's it that other fellow translators take help of?
I'd like to have suggestions so that I can improve the professional aspect of online translation, as I'm pretty new towards it!!!
Thanks a lot in Advance!

Use WindowsXP and Unicode

If you have WindowsXP, adjust the Regional language setting to include Hindi in the list of supported languages. This will give you keyboard support for Hindi. Now when you switch to Hindi input mode, you can see what you are typing in Hindi. This is how most of the kudoz Hindi answers are typed and everyone is able to see them in the Devnagari script.

FWIW there are also a number of input methods for Devanagari, other Indic/Brahmic scripts and other non-Roman scripts for Java and Linux platforms.
Probably some will find greater acceptability among transcribers than others.

Yes it is little bit difficult to do online translation without seeing the hindi fonts, the best way is to switch to Windows XP and you will see a great experience and feeling towards Hindi online translation, i agree with Mr.Balasubramanian.

Windows 2000 also has the Hindi support

Hindi support is available in Windows 2000 as well. So, if you have Win2K, you don't need to upgrade to WinXP.
