Working with DeepL API

Hi all --

Using current version of CafeTran on MacOS 15.3.1. Tried DeepL API free, got "Authorization failed. Please supply a valid auth_key parameter."

Figured the DeepL API Pro account would work, signed up, same error. Any thoughts?

To use the API key version of DeepL in CafeTran (and other CAT tools), you need a Pro Advanced or Ultimate (not Starter) subscription:

If you got the DEEPL API PRO version at €4.99/month described here: https://www.deepl.com/pro-api?cta=header-pro-api this is for developers who want to integrate DeepL into their applications. It does not support CAT tool integration, only access to the DeepL REST API. I admit the DeepL product description is a little confusing in the regard. Contact DeepL support if needed for guidance.

If you do have an Pro Advanced/Ultimate subscription, and the API key works in another CAT tool, you could try opening a support ticket at https://cafetran.freshdesk.com/support/home

How does it come that so many of the so-called top-notch prozians here begin to ask for and offer assistance on DeepL, for a system, so many of them regard as hilarious because it does not reach the level they still are able to maintain and for an allegedly high price because of their highly leveled subjects they offer their translation services for, like architecture, banking institutions, patents, children books, etc.? How does it come that so many of the so-called top-notch prozians here begin to ask for and offer assistance on DeepL, for a system, so many of them regard as hilarious because it does not reach the level they still are able to maintain and for an allegedly high price because of their highly leveled subjects they offer their translation services for, like architecture, banking institutions, patents, children books, etc.? And then, not to forget, DeepL is a German-based system! How can the Germans dare to invent a system superior or at least on eye height of so many of the (surplus) freelancers in this business?

I eventually figured out I needed the "Advanced Plan" instead of the "Pro" plan, but ultimately decided that adding DeepL as a "web resource" in the CafeTran UI is about all I need it for. If you don't mind paying DeepL about $30 a month it does integrate nicely.

I find Deepl useful. And we know that Germans do everything very efficiently. No matter what it is.

Your API key comes with log in credentials. What happens when you use these to log in to DeepL?
