First project of the year: 30k user manual for a renowned Japanese machine tool company
(edited) Four languages in one project: complete documentation of a packaging machine: English user manual (20k words) and French error code list (10k words) with German reference. My task: translate both with unified Hungarian terminology. Although I did not want to take more assignments for this year, I simply could not miss this challenge.
2020 in numbers: 3 active language pairs with the following distribution: 50%DE-HU, 30%EN-HU, 20% FR-HU, 300 timely delivered projects from 10 EUR to 2000 EUR, 25 returning clients, 8 new clients via Proz.com. After 15 years I still feel privileged to work as freelance translator and do what I really enjoy and what I am really good at. Last project for this year: troubleshooting manual of a packaging machine.
New FR-HU assignment in the field of packaging machines.
The best thing about being freelancer is the freedom of choice. You do not need to take any assignments at any price for any clients. This is simply invaluable.
House renovation finished, back to work with 100% capacity. Gigantic SDL package, article list of an electronic webshop. Translation went wrong, the previous translator did a terrible job, he/she might even used MT without permission. While proofing the text I try to make it consistent and create a nice termbase for the client. (edited) Spot check and quality evaluation of a 3000 page long service manual for an automotive client. Really challenging. 10 complete user manuals for a high-tech Swiss machinery company.
