What translation project are you working on right now?
Last week: English SDH (on OOONA) for 3 episodes of a food travel show that's moving platform. Often super fast dialogue, and everyone talking all at once, but, in the end, really quite a treat.
Last week: CC origination for 3 episodes of a fantasy drama series. Pew. Pew. The sound identifiers were wild. Then 1 episode of a nature documentary series to bring me back to earth. All on OOONA. 
Today: two conferences, two projects, two software. For the first, in the healthcare field, English subtitles on Subtitle Edit. For the second, in human resources, Spanish to English subtitles on OOONA. Laden with technical terms and jargon (being conferences), fascinating to research and create. 1 user
Short closed captions QC for an episode of a children's drama today. Subtitle timing and shot changes are all over the shop. It's really quite good, though. Full of aliens. Would have been a treat after school, straight off the bus and with a fridge-raid booty. Then it's the weekend. 
Closed captions for a nature documentary yesterday and today. Lot's of squawking. Endless squawking. Trills. Chirping. But the narrator's pace fits perfectly into the subtitle segments — a pleasure. 
Today: subtitles (srt files) on a series of how-to videos for an industrial company. This is business to business material with precision (as always) utterly essential. 
Closed captions for a short, tender, rom-com episode today — 22 minutes and with specs I hadn't used before. I melt for this kind of thing. 
Last week's project highlights included the revision of some HR document translations (Spanish to English) and the SDH file creation for the final episode of a reality TV documentary series I've been working on (English closed captions). This week, it's gone all travel — content translation for a Spanish local government's tourism board, copywriting for an airline's website, and, today and tomorrow, subtitles for the next episode of the Amazon Studios travelogue show. 
Yesterday and today: full SDH captions for the latest episodes of an Amazon Studios travel series. A few languages going on. Fast talking. Dreadful jokes. But incredible pictures. 
Today (and Monday), I'm translating copy for a fashion brand. Keywords are king. Spanish to English. 7360 words. 
Closed captions for a new documentary (for Amazon Studios) with a classic Channel 4 feel. Off-beat in style, avant-garde in production, and often unfolding at such a hyped-up pace you truly get lost in time. That's been the last few days. 
Today's a copywriting day! Two travel articles for an airline website, which I'll get to once I finish proofreading some human resources copy. Words, words, words, words, words.  1 user
Yesterday morning was spent translating the script for a video launching a new (SS '24) collection for a fashion house. Spanish to English, both technical terms and impactful language, and a distinctive brand voice. The afternoon involved a final revision of subtitles (SDH) for the latest episode of an Amazon Studios series. A good day!

English proofreading project today (and yesterday). 6943 words of a user manual, on the business to business side, for an online payment platform. Precision! 
Top project this week was a QC subtitling job for a number of episodes of a new cooking TV series by a beloved British chef. Of course, the second I finished I was in the kitchen, pots and pans everywhere, spices and herbs out, and a growing mountain of dishes.  1 user
Not long finished the closed captions for Episode 1 of a new documentary about the rise and demise of an 80s star. Lots of shot-changing montages and multiple-person fast-talking interviews to handle, but it’s stellar. Just under an hour total run time. 
Today's work involves a final revision of the latest part of a long-term translation project. The text features a step-by-step guide on how to use the client's human resources platform—with ultra-precise language required! 7,310 words. Español to English. 
This morning’s work: two super short adverts for a language school. The text is so convincing I’ve nearly sold it to myself. 490 words. Spanish to English. 
Spent this long weekend subtitling (SDH) a film for a leading streaming platform. Meticulous guidelines, a multilingual script, and an actor I fanboyed in my youth. Weekend work isn’t so bad when the project’s so good. [cries in Spanish]  1 user
Product descriptions. Most people only read them in their finished form on a website. Read without images or context, however, and they’re often abstract, and sometimes even wholly bizarre. Deep research is required. And chats with the client. But when you put the pieces together, and when you solve the puzzle of how best to translate them, the final result can be a real joy. Strange how such simple text, often only a single sentence in length, can bring such reward when you’re translating. This is a short one—only 1,895 words in total. Spanish to English. Then it’s the weekend! 
Currently translating a short script for a video covering the marketing campaign for a new film release, alongside some small related pieces. Spanish to English. 1013 words. 
Currently translating text for an AI-backed business solutions platform that allows clients to automate a whole range of processes. It's largely marketing material, so the priority is finding the perfect key for the brand's voice. 20,111 words. Spanish to English. 
Just finished the final part of this month's batch of online articles for a construction group. Technical terminology; readable reporting. 5219 words in total. Spanish to English. 
Currently working on the subtitles for a 2-hour long webinar that forms part of a university course. Plenty of speech stumbling, niche terminology and thick Irish accents to deal with. Part of a larger, longer-term project. English to English. 
Currently translating a how-to training course for an HR management platform. The application looks slick, easy to use and incredibly handy; the translation requires equally polished text, crystal-clear language and pinpoint descriptions. Part of a long-term project. 64,396 words. Español to English.  1 user

Currently translating a how-to guide and welcome pack for an email marketing and newsletter platform. I've become obsessed with newsletters of late — in the last few years they've gone from being commercial spam to a genuine artform — so it's an exciting project to be a part of. The language needs to be easy to follow but still enjoyable to read and aligned with the brand's style. Spanish to English, 2557 words. 
Finished a Spanish to English translation of a short but fascinating audio guide script about a Basque tradition that's steeped in history. Plenty of religious terminology (but a joy to research) and the need for a very specific pace and tone (but incredibly satisfying when you get it right). Now it's the weekend—txin-txin!
