A series of situation reports about ISIS attacks on Iraqi Army forces in Ramadi on March 11, 2014, a pivotal day in the fight for Ramadi that year. The reports involved A LOT of abbreviations and military jargon, so my U.S. Army background was really key to being able to understand the material.
(edited) I translated the monumental new ruling from Iraq's Federal Supreme Court in the long-running dispute between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government over the management of oil resources. The court invalidated KRG's oil and gas law and ruled that Kurdistan has no authority to exploit oil resources independent of the federal government.

Translated a batch of legal documents from Iraq: portions of the Civil Procedure Code, Commercial Code, and Evidence Law; several Court of Cassation judgments; and an excerpt from Sanhuri on the theory of emergency circumstances.
Just finished a week of translating corporate documents from Lebanon (Board of Directors minutes, correspondence, Commercial Register statements, etc).
Today: Translated an article on the state of the Algerian media and edited the translation of an article on the Gulf crisis. Proofread the translation of a paper on local development challenges in Egypt, 8609 words.
Wrapped up my favorite project so far -- an assortment of documents relating to criminal and civil cases in Egypt. Fascinating stuff!
My first volunteer translation project, 1,665 words Arabic to English, for the Rosetta Foundation. It was a Libyan Girl Guides group's application for an international award. I was a Girl Scout, so this project was close to my heart. It was a honor to support an organization that empowers young women. Finally coming up for air after a week and a half of non-stop work. Articles of association for Yemeni companies and various documents relating to highway projects in Libya. It's good to be busy, but it will be lovely to go for a hike tomorrow!
(edited) Finished with Arabic>English translation of the executive regulations for Egypt's value added tax — 18,540 words of tax law covering just about every economic sector imaginable. Very interesting project. Executive regulations for Egypt's new VAT law — 76 pages of it! Saudi telephone and electric bills — 1,187 words in total. Translated 8,451 words of the massive organizational document of a government authority. End client was a UN agency! |
