Data Assets
This Policy on Use of Computer Systems and Data Assets (“Policy”) sets forth policy and rules for the use of Computer Systems owned by XXX Corporation and the handling and use of Data Assets. You must comply with this Policy during both working and non-working hours.
While this Policy cannot address every possible detail regarding the use of Computer Systems or Data Assets, it reflects XXX’s practices and sets forth general rules on appropriate use thereof. In general, you must use XXX’s Computer Systems and Data Assets in a manner that protects XXX’s interests at all times. This Policy prohibits use of Computer Systems or Data Assets that reflect adversely on XXX or violate any XXX policy.
This Policy first sets forth rules on usage that apply to all users worldwide and then follows with country/region-specific rules and notices. If you have any questions, contact the IT or Legal Departments.
This Policy does not create any rights for XXX employees or any rights outside the scope of XXX’s obligations under applicable law. This Policy is confidential and internal to XXX and shall not create any rights or entitlements of any third parties.
“Data Assets” means information or documents, regardless of medium, that are created, modified or otherwise processed by XXX employees in connection with work-related duties.
“XXX” means or refers to XXX Corporation and its designated subsidiaries and affiliated entities, including the entity you work for.
Rules on Appropriate Usage: General Guidelines
Follow Laws and Policies. You must comply with all applicable laws, XXX policies, and other procedures and instructions issued by authorized XXX representatives when using XXX’s Computer Systems or Data Assets.
Protect Confidentiality and Security. You must protect, keep secret, and secure any information related to XXX or your work for XXX that is not legitimately in the public domain as intended and specifically authorized by XXX (“Confidential Information”) at all times and comply with all of XXX’s requirements and obligations regarding such information. You must take adequate steps to protect confidential and/or proprietary documents and information that they transmit via any Computer Systems. Adequate steps include, but are not limited to, complying with document control policies and procedures regarding proper labeling (e.g. legends and restrictions), distribution, and disposal.
