Távol tartotta magát minden esztetizálástól, különösen Le Corbusier praktikus szempontokkal nem igazolható elveitől, ugyanakkor magáévá tette a funkcionalizmus lényegi céljait a lakáshasználat optimalizálásának, az építés és üzemeltetés gazdaságosságának és a természettel való kapcsolatnak a megvalósításával.
Jelen kötet a brüsszeli Archives d’architecture moderne kiadásában 2002-ben megjelent monográfia magyar olvasóközönség számára átdolgozott, néhány dokumentummal kibővített változata.
Translation - English Vágó continued designing elegant villas in places like Rome, but the only manifestation of this is the reconstruction of a hotel. Here in Rome he began dealing with the problems of developing a housing estate, eventually incorporating several garden suburb details into his theory of an ideal city. His last fully realized work was again a villa in Budapest in 1934, and epitomized his opinion of modernism. He resisted all aesthetism, especially the theories of Le Corbusier, which cannot be justified in a practical sense. At the same time, he adopted functionalism which is marked by the realization of optimal apartment utilization, the economical manner of its construction and operation, and its connection to nature.
The current volume is a version of the Archives d’architecture moderne, a monograph published in Brussels, 2002, which was revised for a Hungarian readership and extended with some related extra documents.
