Bio

Dr Gabriel Chao Ren is a translator, scholar, film and television actor, screenwriter, director and producer who has been based in New Zealand for more than twelve years. He holds a bachelor degree in theater and film acting from the Theater Department of Shandong University of Arts in China, a master degree in feature film directing from the Directing Department of Beijing Film Academy in China, and a PhD degree in media (film) studies from the Griffith Film School of Griffith University in Australia. He used to be a lecturer at Beijing Film Academy, an associate professor at Hanshan Normal University in Chaozhou, China, and a professor at Qingdao Huanghai University in China. He worked as an actor, screenwriter, director and producer in China and participated in the creation of many feature films, documentaries, TV shows and other works. Now he is an actor represented by one of New Zealand's top actor agencies, and has participated in many mainstream film and television works produced by the United States, Australia and New Zealand production companies.
