I was born in Switzerland, studied Pharmacy at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (BA in Pharmacy), and have worked in the field for many years (leading pharmaceutical companies, such as GSK, Novartis, and a university hospital). Given that English is a very important language in any business, I decided to study English on the side and become proficient in the language (Cambridge Proficiency Exam).
In my early forties I left Switzerland, first for Zimbabwe, to live my dream of working with big cats, then I moved to South Africa, the home country of my husband. Here I became a certified English to German translator (WLS - World Language Services, Dublin, Ireland), as I am not able to work as a pharmacist.
Meanwhile, I have worked as a translator (freelancer/sole proprietor) for over 6 years, mainly for a Language Institute in Cape Town, South Africa, Amazon Europe, an Austrian Language Institute with offices in Austria and South Africa, over a period of 2 years for Improve Veterinary Education Germany, more or less full time, as well as for many other reputable clients.
Given my background, I specialize in medical/pharmaceutical/veterinary translations, but have also gained experience in many other fields over the years. I have an eye for detail, am reliable and trustworthy, adhere to deadlines, best practices, instructions, etc. and pride myself in providing high (Swiss) quality, localized translations.
