I am a translator and editor holding a BA with First-Class
Honours in German and Turkish and an MSc with Distinction in Applied
Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford.

Almost all of my academic and professional pursuits have
entailed a translation component, culminating in a specialised traineeship at
the European Parliament in 2018. As a part of the Romanian Translation Unit, I
translated a wide variety of documents from English and German, such as amendments,
agendas, and petitions, using SDL Trados Studio and CAT4TRAD. In this context,
I also completed a terminology research project, adding entries to the IATE
database. As a result of my experience at the European Parliament, I have
gained a sound understanding of EU law and terminology.

My further areas of specialisation include sports and public
health. As a qualified pilates instructor and former competitive rhythmic
gymnast, I have maintained a keen interest in the world of sport, which has
allowed me to translate interviews with top athletes from Romanian and German
into English for several published books. As regards public health, I am
currently engaged in efforts to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in Romania, having
recently translated the English version of an academic paper authored by leading
academics and professionals in the field. Moreover, I was responsible for editing
the English language manuscript, a service which I have also offered in other
settings involving the publication of scientific articles. The above-mentioned English
version and its translation have been featured on the official website of the anti-COVID-19
vaccine information campaign run by the Romanian government.

Finally, as a result of my undergraduate studies and my
experience of living abroad, I am highly knowledgeable about the cultures
associated with my source and target languages. Furthermore, I have strong
research skills and a passion for learning, which will serve me well in any
future collaborations.
