Bio

Hello!

I am an old school translator. That is, I use human attention and
expertise to craft English versions of your French or Spanish text that
are human, individual, soulful, meaningful. If you're translating
something that will be read by human beings, I recommend this kind of
translation, which will never be obsolete. There is a huge difference in
using the human brain, heart, and accumulated experience in
translation. You can feel the difference, and it makes a difference to
your audience.

I've studied French for over twenty years. I
have a Masters' degree from the University of Toulouse 2 in
French and Francophone studies (Études françaises et francophones), where I wrote a thesis on the aural-based self-translation
practices of Samuel Beckett in his compositions for the radio.

I'm
also a writer and performer. I've been recording original music and
performing onstage for over twenty years, in almost every state in the
US. I've recorded several albums and created original stage shows
calling on vaudeville and avant-garde theater concepts. That sounds a
bit highfalutin' but in fact, I try to connect with the audience, to
elicit laughter, tears, bewilderment. This is all to say that my
experience is anchored in clarity of communication and storytelling.

Thank you for reading my bio and I look forward to translating with you!
