ভেবেছিনু মরণের অভিনয় করা
পরম গৌরব বুঝি; বলেছিনু, “জরা,
রাগহীন শক্তিহীন স্তিমিত একেলা,
নাহি যাচি; সহিব না জীবনের হেলা,
প্রণয়বাসনারিক্ত দিন গ্লানিভরা,
যৌবনের ব্যর্থ চেষ্টা; তার চেয়ে ত্বরা
আসুক অননুভূতি মৃত্যু এইবেলা ।।”
