English to Arabic: Housing Projects Will Deteriorate the Saudi City General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Government / Politics
Source text - English When some colleagues asked me what I think about the housing communities that the Ministry of Housing is intending to build in the coming years, I clearly stated and reiterated what I wrote before about these projects; that they are about to deteriorate the Saudi city instead of solving the housing crisis.
I wonder when we will realize that the housing crisis is not merely an economic crisis, but also a cultural crisis. Surely, the economic side of the problem has not been underestimated; fortunately the kingdom has the necessary economic resources to overcome any financial pressures, and I am confident that the required budget is affordable. However, we have not realized yet that culture is the key problem we have to focus on. It is not possible to have a standardized housing unit and claim that it suits different Saudi families from north, south, east and west; I believe that this generalization of the housing crisis will lead to severe and serious consequences on the urban and social nature of the Saudi city.
