Bio
Hi! I'm a Portuguese translator from Coimbra, Portugal, the city of one of the oldest universities in the world! I studied English and Portuguese Lit and later I completed a Master's in Translation, my big passion!
I love hiking, reading, yoga and my dog, Ema :)
I began my career as an English/Portuguese teacher and I loved every minute of it!
I love communicating and dealing with naughty, bright teens!
After 14 years I felt the urge to change and dedicate full time to translation, another passion. I started translating popular science authors like Neil deGrasse and David Deutsch and became totally passionate about translation and also astrophysics. I have 12 books in my “translator shelf” so far!
Since I completed my MA (with 18/20 GPA!), in EN>PT, I have explored almost every area of expertise, from complex legal opinions to lighter marketing transcreation. My main areas of specialization are, however, legal (governmental bodies, certificates, EU) and financial translation (major banks, management societies). Recently, I have been involved in Medical (healthcare) and Legal translations (legal proceedings and welfare) for the Portuguese community in the UK. Marketing is quite often in my daily work too! Lately, I have been engaged in AI-related tasks (e.g. Google Bard).
