Translation - English I would have liked to have been born to parents unknown.
Never would they have taken me from Yaya. Never would I have had the feeling of being disowned. They say most children estranged from their mothers at birth, without civil status, deprived of a name and parental history, live each encounter in fear of abandonment. Not me. Some desertions are exemplary. Generous. Courageous like a confession of powerlessness to believe in the future of the child just been born. At least we can hope there are.
I would have preferred that my mother had had the choice.
I was two months old when Yaya took me into her arms. She was an orphan, without age, without future, raised by the sisters as an embroiderer, and who until my arrival had earned her living in the workshop of the angles in a convent in Brest. Between vespers and compline, with the aid of two threads of gold embroidery thread, she adorned chasubles, surplices and stoles with liturgical designs.
The intelligence of a number of parishes, consulted each in turn by my grandmother, played a large part in the choice of this Breton of guaranteed virtue. Ideal to fulfil a mission necessarily discreet. No relationships, no family, no acquaintances or friends beyond the clergy.

Translation - English Human trafficking also seems to be on the rise in our various focus provinces, in particular in Mairie de Bujumbura and Bujumbura Rural. Our respondents seemed to have little information on the fate of the victims but asserted that, for several months, because of the disastrous living conditions in socio-economic terms, young girls and young mothers had allowed themselves to be taken away by unknown people who had promised them well-remunerated employment abroad. They asserted that these women had abandoned their families and left and most had not returned. Some of our respondents in Mairie de Bujumbura asserted that they had heard of bad treatment endured by some of those who had left. On several occasions, respondents in Mairie de Bujumbura evoked a network of traffickers enjoying the protection of people in high positions within the administration, the police or the ruling party.
