I am a native English speaker but spent much of my childhood in France where I attended a French international lycée. I have 14 years experience working in Financial Services of which 1 year was spent as an in-house translator of equity research for a bank in Paris. This was followed by 13 years with a leading US investment bank. I did a number of different line management and project management roles, working mainly in Derivatives and Commodities Operations. I was a senior Executive Director (Vice President) by the time I left at the end of 2011 and I was responsible for managing relationships with clearing houses, depositories and other third party post-trade service providers, as well as developing strategies for shaping the European market infrastructure landscape in light of incoming European financial regulation. I left my City career to spend more time with my young family, and to facilitate this I changed career direction by returning to languages. In February 2012 I set up my translation business JG Lingua and since then I have been focussing on building a client base and refreshing my experience in translation. I have also embarked on the Diploma in Translation course at the University of Westminster and I plan to take the Diploma examination in January 2013. |
