English to Serbian: CES: Freescale chip chops vampire draw to zero/Sajam potrošačke elektronike (CES): Čip kompanije Freescale potpuno eliminiše „standby“ potrošnju General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Electronics / Elect Eng
Source text - English Chipmaker Freescale has designed a USB charger that knows when to stop working.
At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week, Freescale will announce availability of Watt Saver, a system that eliminates the "vampire" power draw of wall chargers for mobile phones and other small electronics.
The first generation of Freescale's zero-draw technology is used in AT&T phone chargers.
Even when wall chargers are no longer plugged into phones, the chargers still draw a small trickle of electricity, ranging from less than a watt for efficient chargers to over 5 watts. The Freescale system can detect when a phone's battery is full or when it's been unplugged and cut the power draw to zero.
Last year AT&T introduced its Zero Charger, available for $29.99 in stores, using Freescale's technology. Having tested the system with AT&T, Freescale is now talking to other phone and gadget companies about using Watt Saver, said Glen Burchers, director of consumer segment marketing at Freescale.
Watt Saver adds three components to a traditional wall charger, which are typically made by third-party companies rather than electronics manufacturers themselves.
There is a micro-controller which detects when a phone has been unplugged, a capacitor to power the microcontroller, and a relay to shut off power, Burchers explained. The additional components add about $1 more to the charger's cost at retail.
It's designed for wall chargers that have a USB output, but the technology can be used to eliminate vampire power in different power packs, according to Freescale.
On an individual level, the dollar savings from cutting the vampire draw to zero is not very significant--perhaps less than one dollar over the course of a year, Burchers said. But in aggregate, the energy reductions make a big difference, given that there are 4 billion mobile phones already being used and another 1.4 billion sold a year.
Freescale estimates that vampire power from cell phones is about 1,200 megawatts, which is the output of a large power plant. It plans on giving 1 percent of the proceeds from sales of the Watt Saver to a nonprofit dedicated to preserving natural resources.
English to Serbian: A radio device user manual General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Electronics / Elect Eng
Source text - English This device must only be used with authorized accessories and antennae.
The operator must ensure that the minimum safe distance of 0.9m (35 inches) between persons and the antenna is maintained during transmissions.
This minimum safe distance is based on the assumption that there is a duty cycle of 50% transmit mode to stand-by or receive modes. The radio is in transmit mode when the PTT (press-to-talk) key on the microphone is pressed and the control head red LED (light emitting diode) glows. Please refer to the following website for more information on what RF energy is and how to control your exposure to assure compliance with established RF exposure limits.
Caution: Radio Protection
Always remove the fuses from the radio power cable before charging the vehicle battery, connecting a second battery or using power from another vehicle (e.g. when “jump-starting” the vehicle).

English to Serbo-Croat: LTC New 16BIT Single/Quad Rail-to-Rail DACs/Novi 16-bitni LTC „quad“ D/A kovertor sa jednostrukim napajanjem i „rail-to-rail“ izlazom General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Electronics / Elect Eng
Source text - English New LTC’s 16BIT DACs families (LTC2604 and LTC2641)
LTC2604
The LTC2604 is quad 16bit 2.5V to 5.5V rail-to-rail voltage output DACs in 16-lead narrow SSOP packages. These parts have separate reference inputs for each DAC. They have built-in high performance output buffers and are guaranteed monotonic. These parts establish advanced performance standards for output drive; crosstalk and load regulation in single supply, voltage output multiples.
The parts use a simple SPI/MICROWIRE™ compatible 3-wire serial interface which can be operated at clock rates up to 50MHz. Daisy-chain capability and a hardware CLR function are included.
The LTC2604 incorporates a power on reset circuit. During power-up, the voltage outputs raise less than 10mV above zero scale; and after power-up, they stay at zero scale until a valid write and update take place. The power-on reset circuit resets the LTC2604-1 to midscale. The voltage outputs stay at midscale until a valid write and update take place.
LTC2641
The LTC2641 is family of 16-bit un-buffered voltage output DACs. These DACs operate from a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and are guaranteed monotonic over temperature. Un-buffered DAC outputs result in low supply current of 120μA and a low offset error of ±1LSB (najmanje značajan bit, ED).
LTC2641 feature a reference input range of 2V to VDD. VOUT swings from 0V to VREF. The LTC2641 use a simple SPI/MICROWIRE compatible 3-wire serial interface which can be operated at clock rates up to 50MHz and can interface directly with optocouplers for applications requiring isolation. A power-on reset circuit clears the LTC2641’s DAC output to zero scale when power is initially applied. A logic low on the CLR pin asynchronously clears
the DAC to zero scale. These DACs are all specified over the ommercial and industrial ranges.

Translation - Serbo-Croat Nove klase LTC-ovih 16-bitnih D/A konvertora (LTC2604 i LTC2641)
LTC2604
Oni posjeduju mogućnost serijskog povezivanja i hadrverski ugradjenu CLR funkciju.
120μA i mala greška ofseta vrijednosti ±1LSB.
komercijalne i industrijske svrhe jasno je definisan.
Odlike i prednosti:
LTC2604
temperature
English to Serbian: Forex Trading Terminology/Terminologija koja se koristi u trgovanju deviznim sredstima General field: Bus/Financial Detailed field: Finance (general)
Source text - English Trading Terms
FX & CFD Trading Terminology
Forex and CFD investing is just like any endeavor, where preparation is a valuable instrument. Understanding and familiarizing yourself with terminology is valuable asset for any trader.
Quote
An indicative market price, when used in Forex, refers to the prevailing exchange rate of the quoted currency at that moment. A quote will always be for a currency pair; for example EUR/USD, AUD/JPY or USD/JPY. The first currency in the pair is the quoted currency, while the second currency is referred to as the counterpart.
A currency pair is usually quoted to a 1/10,000 degree of precision (i.e. until the 4th digit right of the decimal point); except for Japanese yen pairs, where quotes are usually made to 1/100 degree of precision (i.e. to the second digit right of the decimal point).
A quote will always be provided in a form of two figures. The first figure is always the Bid or selling price, while the second is the Ask or buying price.
For example:
Bid/Ask
The Bid or the selling price is the exchange rate at which a currency is offered for sale. The Ask or buying price is the exchange rate at which a currency can be bought.
In the example above the EUR/USD pair (Euro vs. US dollar) is quoted at 1.5034/1.5037. In other words, the quote for the EUR/USD pair is 1.5034/1.5037, where 1.5034 is the Bid price and 1.5037 is the Ask price. Meaning if you wish to sell the quoted currency – in this case the Euro – then you would receive 1.5034 US Dollars per 1 Euro. On the other hand, if you were buying the quoted currency, then the quote tells you that to buy Euros for US dollars, you would need to pay 1.5037 dollars per 1 euro.
Lot
A lot is the standard unit size of a transaction. It represents the minimum quantity which can be traded in any given instrument.
For Forex Trading, Markets.com standard lot size is 1,000 units of the quoted currency.
For CFD Trading, the standard lot size varies from 1 to 500 units of the quoted CFD.
Pip
This is the smallest value in a currency quote and can be different for different currencies. For most currency pairs a pip is the 1/10,000 (0.0001) fraction of the quoted currency. However, in Japanese yen pairs, a pip refers to a 1/100 (0.01) fraction of the quoted currency.
Profits on a trade can be expressed in pips, for example: Suppose you bought the EUR/USD at an exchange rate of 1.5016 and sold it at an exchange rate of 1.5037. 37-16=21. You made a 21 pip profit.
Pip Value
The pip value can be either variable or fixed, depending on the currency pair it refers to and the base currency (i.e. measuring currency) of your account. The pip value is also a function of the amount traded.
The simplest way to calculate the pip value is to divide 1 pip by the exchange rate and multiply it by the lot size. This gives you the pip value in terms of the quoted currency. If the base currency of your account is other than the quoted currency, then simply multiply this by the applicable exchange rate.
For example: What is the pip value of a trade in GBP/JPY with a price of 128.92? The pip value of 1 standard lot (5,000) of GBP/JPY which is traded at 128.92 is:
0.01/128.92 = 0.00007756 GBP
0.00007756 x 5,000=0.387 GBP
The base currency of your account is USD. If the exchange rate for GBP/USD is 2.0612, then the pip value for 1 standard lot in terms of the account's base currency is: 0.387x 2.0612 = $0.80.
Spread
This is the difference between the bid price and the ask price. For example: If the quote for the EUR/USD pair is 1.5034/1.5037 (in other words the bid price is 1.5034 and the ask price is 1.5037), then the spread for the EUR/USD in this case is 3 pips. Low spreads ensure that traders can get in and out of their trades at very low slippage.
Margin
The amount of funds required to open or maintain a position. It is usually expressed as a percentage of the open position. You may have a margin requirement of 0.5%, which would mean that in order to hold a position of 100,000 EUR/USD, an equity level of 500 euros or more must be maintained.
Leverage
This is the use of borrowed capital to increase potential return. Trading on leveraged capital means that you can trade amounts significantly higher than the balance of your funds, which only serves as the margin. High leverage can significantly increase the potential return, but it can also significantly increase potential losses. The leverage is specified as a ratio, such as 200:1. This means that the trader can trade amounts 200 times higher than the sum in his or her margin account. If the trader has $1,000 in his account, it means that he can now open trades worth $200,000.
Interest
In a sense, interest is the price of money. It is the amount paid on loans and received on deposits.
Long
A trader going long expects the price to go up when buying a currency pair or a CFD.
Short
A trader going short expects the price to go down when selling a currency pair or a CFD.
Value date
The date on which counterparts to a financial transaction agree to settle their respective obligations, i.e., exchanging payments.
Rollover
Process where the settlement of a deal is rolled forward to another value date and a charge is levied based on the difference in rates of interest of the two currencies. Every day, at 21:00GMT, open positions are rolled over to the next day and the positions gain or lose interest based on the interest differential between the bought and sold currencies.
If you buy overnight a currency pair where the base currency has a higher interest rate than the terms currency, then you’ll receive interest and vice versa.
Translation - Serbian Osnovni pojmovi u oblasti trgovanja na deviznom tržištu
Primer:
Prodajna (ponuđena) i kupovna (tražena) cena
U gornjem primeru kvota valutnog para EUR/USD (evro naspram američkog dolara) iznosi 1.5034/1.5037.
English to Serbian: Climate Change/Klimatske promene General field: Science Detailed field: Environment & Ecology
Source text - English Climate change is already happening and represents one of the greatest environmental, social and economic threats facing the planet. The European Union is committed to working constructively for a global agreement to control climate change, and is leading the way by taking ambitious action of its own.
The warming of the climate system is unequivocal, as is now evident from observations of increases in global average air and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising global mean sea level. The Earth's average surface temperature has risen by 0.76° C since 1850. Most of the warming that has occurred over the last 50 years is very likely to have been caused by human activities.
In its Fourth Assessment Report (AR4), published in 2007, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projects that, without further action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the global average surface temperature is likely to rise by a further 1.8-4.0°C this century, and by up to 6.4°C in the worst case scenario. Even the lower end of this range would take the temperature increase since pre-industrial times above 2°C - the threshold beyond which irreversible and possibly catastrophic changes become far more likely.

Translation - English Migraine is a disease. It causes occasional severe headaches and/or nausea. (Or: Migraine is a disease that causes occasional severe headaches and/or nausea.) It can also be followed by vomiting and intolerance to normal intensity of the light and/or sound. The frequency of such attacks in humans varies. They can be very regular occuring every day. But, they could be occasional as well, occurring once or twice a month or just a couple of times a year. The intensity of the migraine attacks also varies, ranging from moderate to severe. However, they hinder the sufferers from normally accomplishing their everyday tasks.
