English to French: road construction sample Detailed field: Construction / Civil Engineering
Source text - English 1.2 Summary of observations
1.2.1 Materials:
1. 0 000 to 20 000 has very poor soils i.e. weak subgrade (SG 3) plastic silt.
2. 20 000 to 45 000 has good subgrade SG6 to SG9
3. There is little or no good gravel for construction of base course and any potential source may require stabilisation preferably with lime or alternatively with cement
4. Outcrops of laterite were noticed and with proper prospecting more viable sources may be found. However, the gravel is expected to be highly plastic because of the high content of silt.
5. Surfacing aggregate is available ~ 70km from site on the road to the Airport
a. Hand crushed stone is available for penetration macadam and other thin surfacings
a. Machine crushed aggregate is also available but not visually confirmed
6. Cement for stabilisation of base and construction of structures is available but at high prices $20 - $25/50kg bag
7. Lime is available north of Bukavu but price is currently unknown.

1.2 Résumé des observations
1.2.1 Matériaux :
1. 0 000 à 20 000 a des sols très pauvres, c.-à-d. plate-forme de limon plastique peu résistant (SG 3).
2. 20 000 à 45 000 a une bonne plate-forme de SG6 à SG9
