Translations from French & Spanish to English My specialist subjects:

As a law graduate and former accounts assistant I specialise first and foremost in translations for law and finance. However, I have a wide range of knowledge in a number of fields including politics, business, entertainment, cartoons, gaming, art, culture and food. Furthermore, an extended period of residence in Brussels, where I worked as a Parliamentary research assistant has given me a sound knowledge of EU affairs and Belgian culture.


My background:

I was awarded the degree of MSc. with distinction in Translation and Computer Assisted Translation Tools by Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh. My MSc dissertation examined the translation of complex syntactic structures in legal writing for academia.

I attended and passed the Summer School in Screen Translation, hosted by the Centro Residenziale Universitario di Bertinoro, Italy.

I also hold the degree of LL.B. (Hons.) Law and Belgian Law, awarded by the University of Aberdeen.

My Erasmus year was spent studying Belgian, European and International Law courses at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. I also worked in Brussels at the European Parliament for one year, and more recently worked in Paris. Time spent in French-speaking countries has given me a good knowledge of French culture.

I have experience of technical translation, localisation, subtitling and using CAT tools.
