Important: Those who purchase a seat in advance may be able to pay an "early bird" or cheaper price, while those who confirm participation later or last minute, may likely have to pay a higher fee. In some training sessions a price increase based on the number of registrants may also apply, i.e. the first 15 registered pay one price, the next 10 pay a a slightly higher price etc.
Early payment is advised in order to secure participation and help reach the course minimum participation - unfortunately, courses may occasionally be cancelled or rescheduled, if the confirmed participation in advance is very low.
Even if you do not attend the online session you will still have unlimited access to the video recording and training materials within one working week after the session.
The presenter will walk attendees through a translation project, step by step, using SWORDFISH―a computer-assisted translation tool that is platform independent and works in Windows, Mac, and Linux computers without the need for emulators.
Attendees will learn about the file formats compatible with Swordfish and how this tool can be used to open a number of bilingual documents created by other CATs available in the market.
Several concepts, including translation memory, terminology database, tags, concordance search, and side-by-side preview will also be reviewed during the presentation.
Description
Attendees will have a chance to learn about SWORDFISH, a computer-assisted translation tool that is platform independent and works in Windows, Mac, and Linux computers without the need for emulators. Swordfish supports several file formats, including Microsoft Office, Office Libre, inDesign, HTML, and PO. It is seamlessly compatible with other CAT tools available in the market, opening a number of bilingual files in XLF, XLIFF, SDLXLIFF, TTX, and TXML. It also imports memory files in TMX or CSV formats, in addition to glossaries in GlossML and TBX formats.
After a brief introduction to what CATs have in common, the presenter will highlight Swordfish features, including its flexible license, the translation engines it interacts with, layout options, segment merging and splitting, and two-column HTML preview. Several concepts, including translation memory, terminology database, tags, concordance search, and side-by-side preview will also be reviewed during the presentation.
Before the Q&A session, the presenter will show how a sample project is translated in Swordfish, indicating the step-by-step process required to complete a translation and boost your productivity.
Target audience
