Simplified Chinese to English Translator -Earth Science

Editage, the flagship brand of CACTUS, provides translation services to help ESL (English-as-a-second-language) researchers communicate their science to the global scientific community. We are currently looking for skilled translators to work with us on a contractual basis.

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chinese to English Translator on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have expertise in translating academic, technical, medical, legal, business, and patent documents. Responsibilities include delivering accurate translations while preserving meaning and tone, conducting quality reviews, ensuring client satisfaction, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.

Responsibilities:

•Provide high-quality translations of documents, predominantly research papers, websites, books, legal, patent, and technical content, from Chinese to English. Ensure accuracy in meaning, tone, and style.
•You may also be required to work on English-to-Chinese translations as needed.
•Conduct quality reviews on translations, ensuring linguistic accuracy and formatting consistency.
•Address client queries post-delivery to ensure customer satisfaction.
•Meet deadlines consistently while maintaining high-quality standards.
•Manage communication with stakeholders to align on project requirements and expectations.

Qualifications and Prerequisites:

•Master’s degree in Translation, or a related field.
•5+ years of experience as a professional translator specializing in Chinese to English translation, with a proven track record of translating over 1 million characters across various subject areas.
•Expertise in specialized terminology and adapting content for clarity and cultural relevance.
•Strong command of both Chinese and English, including idioms and contextual meaning.
•Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to preserving original content integrity.
•Experience working with CAT tools and translation software is preferred but not mandatory.
