Wow, my poll published! Thank you a lot! I would like to clarify that my original suggestion contained only three answers, "Yes", "No" and "Other". Thanks to the proz staff for making more options available!

Guilty as charged! I have been called a workaholic (mostly by my grown-up children) but I enjoy what I do and I am free to do as I please. Financially I could live without translating but my psyche would suffer.

OK, I sent an acquisition email yesterday at 11:30 p.m. (and it probably gained me a new client), but in my defense: I spend much time on other things as well, also during business hours. In general, I think I work about 40 hours per week, which matches most day jobs, just not the same times during the day or week. I like working in batches of a few hours and then doing something else such as swimming in our neighbourhood pool, doing grocery shopping or taking a bike ride. I'm not a workaholic, ... I suffer from workaholism, an uncontrolable desire or need to constantly work as an addiction.
I really love my job, and I consider myself a hard-working individual too, but I don't grab my laptop while heading for a trip.
Being a workaholic fulfills my needs, and keeps my brain working.

For years I have been an absolute workaholic, even to the point of canceling other activities. But in the course of the years and after many days filled with mainly work, I'm beginning to slow down and spend more time on enjoying other things that have been somewhat neglected because of this former workaholic's priorities. This is the time to not only stop and smell the roses, but to also linger around them a little longer.

I'll happily pull 15-hour work shifts when I'm in the mood to do so, and in general my policy is that you can never have too much money. But I also have stretches where I literally do nothing for an entire day if I'm distracted by something else.

I generally consider work (and not just my work) a great way to spend time and, of course, getting money for it is a bonus, but there are other activities too and I also need to rest / do something else to stay productive.
I like to work, but when the work stops "working" it's time to change the track.

I had been a workaholic for more than two decades –I was early to arrive in the office and usually the last to leave. I was even working in my dream and would always have full of things to do in my head upon waking up. Until one day, I realized that I have already missed a lot of time to relax and enjoy the fruits of my labor.
I still work a lot nowadays, but in a more balanced way – and I find my life filled with joy and clear purpose every day more than before.

Until the pandemic affected my clients, current or prospective, in various ways, and therefore my working relationship with them, I was working almost 7 days a week, about 6 hours a day, and for several years. At my age, I have no time to waste. So while I wait for those clients, who I hope will re-appear soon, I have thrown myself headlong into earning another degree, and into personal literary/translation projects.

It depends on what I'm working on. When I get engrossed in a translation or other project, I give it my all and get lost in a time warp. If the translation doesn't excite me, I struggle to meet my daily quota and get tempted by distractions. But I certainly don't put off until tomorrow any obligation that I have committed to.
In other words, my work load drives me to meet deadlines and I enjoy other writing projects, but I am not driven to work just to stay busy.

There were times when I would sit in front of my computer from the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep. My wife and I thought I was a workaholic. But in time, I realized if I add up the actual working hours there, it will hardly exceed the regular 8 hours per day. I do many other things in between, instead of working non-stop for 6 or 8 hours and resting for another 6 or 8 hours before going to sleep. Workaholics don't stop working to do other things and to have fun. I do.
