I put "extremely busy" (which is true) - so what am I doing here, answering polls? | | | Extremely busy! | Mar 8, 2017 |
I have two big jobs in the pipeline, both EN-PT: an online course on racism (58,000 words) and a brochure (12,000 words) on an integrated aeronautical solution aiming at reinforcing the civil aviation safety.
What am I doing here being so busy? Well, I have started working two hours ago and I have just stopped to have my first well-needed espresso coffee... Bye, for now!
Today slow... after 2 weeks without a break a day like this is definitely welcome.

This has been the worst year in all my working experience as a professional translator. Even though I have done all my due diligence, contacted current, old and new agencies, this has been a huge effort with no success so far, except for a very small job from a new client.

I never had this experience before and it feels very bad. I am very active and proactive, never waiting for things to come out of the blue, always working very hard on my advertising and maintaining close relationship with companies, so currently it feels like a dead-end road. My go-to, regular agencies have not sent me a single job this year. ▲ Collapse | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 05:34 Spanish to English + ... More or less normal | Mar 8, 2017 |
However, I've had a couple of blips which are making the morning more complicated. First of all, in a job which I delivered yesterday, twenty-four hours ahead of deadline, there is apparently some editable text in the source document which I am unable to see on my screen, so I had to ask the agency to send it to me in a separate document. (This eventuality is covered in my collaboration conditions, which stipulate that my basic rates are only for easily modifiable plain text or Word format, with... Another direct client, for whom I work in several areas, has asked me to give priority to a couple of horrible files of software strings containing chemical names of compounds, something which I never really enjoy translating, so I've had to put aside another important job for another department of the same company to do this one. Yesterday and the day before were less complicated... ▲ Collapse

I'm back from a well-deserved day off, so it's busy. | | | Rushed off my feet | Mar 8, 2017 |
Am getting orders left, right and center and expect to be busy until the end of April. This is probably because of a business trip up to Tokyo a few weeks back to strengthen ties with existing customers.
Quite the reverse of January and February which were like a fairy story - Grimm. | | | Thayenga Germany Local time: 05:34 Member (2009) English to German + ...
After a month of back-to-back projects, today is the first easy going day. So I'm taking care of some private things that I didn't have time to attend to. If no new job comes in today, then I can take care of some admin work and relax, knowing that the next big project from one of my regular clients will come in tomorrow.

December and January were slow, as usual, so the income in January and February were below average, as usual. But in February the jobs started flowing in again, and now in March we're back on the track. So the earnings were a little better in March, and should be back to normal in April. | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: In terms of work, today is: Pastey | Your smart companion app
