I entered a phrase, and got no results. I had to press "Go back to the old term search" and type in the phrase again, and then the suggestions came up.
Is this a new system that's been introduced or have I entered some kind of parallel universe? | | | Michael Beijer United Kingdom Local time: 04:14 Member Dutch to English + ... very, very annoying | May 6, 2016 |
This has been like this for a long time now: the two systems are different, and it is always necessary to check both. This is very, very annoying, and I hope someone from Proz is monitoring this thread.

I find that often searching with ProZ term search comes up with nothing, but Googling what I'm searching for and including the word "KudoZ" shows it was there all along. I wasn't aware that the old term search was sometimes more efficient, but I'd rather use Google than waste time on two different ProZ term searches.

Also very annoying is that when you post a question the second screen usually gives a long list of what it claims is relevant KudoZ answers. These can only be checked (very slowly) one at a time, so I've never looked at more than the first two. As they were always totally irrelevant to my question, I now ignore the list, rather than waste my time. ▲ Collapse | | | Robert Forstag United States Local time: 23:14 Spanish to English + ...
I agree with and support the concerns raised above, and I have experienced the issues described.
Most annoying indeed, especially when the clock is ticking down on a job with an urgent deadline.

The new search tool is rubbish, IMHO. I always choose to go back to the old one, and yes, it's a waste of (precious little) time | | | Natalie Soper United Kingdom Local time: 04:14 French to English + ... I thought it was just me! | May 8, 2016 |
I've had those problems too this week, and like B D Finch, found it easier to look for KudoZ answers via Google. Hope it can be fixed soon!
Thought it was just me too. AS B.D. Finch said, I just google and see if anything coes up but when I am about to ask, I am presented with a whole list of 'possibles' none of which are relevant, so I join the chorus in wishing this could be fixed. So annoying... | May 9, 2016 |
I also thought, "what's going on here". Not any phrase I typed in, would come up with a search. I have already sent this issue to the support team, and they have told me that they know there is something wrong, and that the developpers are working to solve it. First they said it would take them 2-3 days, tomorrow will be one week.

I wonder why they would remove the part that tells you how many suggested answers there were.

Linguee is one of a number of much better online sources. I only resort to trawling through the Kudoz directory when all my other resources let me down. | | | Rebecca Davis United Kingdom Local time: 04:14 French to English + ...
Would someone from ProZ please explain how we can just automatically default back to the old term search, and get rid of this useless "new! one altogether?

I, too, have wasted a lot of time seeking answers in Kudoz recently. Finally I switched back to the old version, which I do not like. In any case, since ProZ.com appears to know there is a problem, why don't they simply make an announcement on the faulty page? "This page is being reconstructed. Please use the other KudoZ." | | | What a pain! | May 10, 2016 |
I sent a support request about this the other day after noticing, last week, that the old term search is no longer the default search. I use Intelliweb search which used to take me directly to the old term search but now it's necessary to "go back to the old term search" and retype or copy and paste.
Perhaps they could give us the choice of which term search to use by default; old or new.

I thought there was a temporary bug, but it seems that the efficiency of the ProZ term search has been dramatically decreased for some time.
I have tried all possible options (ticking all the boxes, using quotation marks etc.) - all in vain.
What's more frustrating, I just renewed my membership in March.
Any chances of bringing back the tool to life?
