I have years of experience as a legal translator as well as law and translation degrees. This course and its description look like a complete con - how could this course do as advertised in 90 minutes or 60 minutes (the description cannot even agree with itself)? I think Proz needs to raise its standards a bit if it wants to be seen as something other than a way of making money from amateurs with no common sense and/or ethics (the mistranslation of legal and financial documents can have very dir... I think that part of the problem is that the trainer's bio is empty. Without information on the trainer's qualifications to teach such a course, it is impossible for participants to know who is teaching them. Also, it looks like the course description has information from two different webinars mixed together - technical issue.

I completely agree with LondonLingua, and when I came across this webinar ad, the same thoughts came to my mind. No, you cannot earn 300 EUR min per day simply because you have acquired some few knowledge about legal and/or financial translation during a 60 or 90 minutes webinar. Neither when you are an experimented translator in such fields, by the way. I am a lawyer myself, and translator specializing in legal and financial since long years, and I can assure you it does not work like that.

I am a English to French translator, specialised in law and business. I hold a law degree from a French University, a diploma in business administration from Henley Business School and a diploma in legal translation from IoL, It took me more than 90' to learn what I have learned. It is a bit of an insult to people's intelligence to publish such false publicity from an unverified trainer. We expect better from ProZ.

Thank you for your interest in the training | May 6, 2016 |
Hi everyone,
Thank you for bringing this up. You are right, this course is an introduction to those who plan to start specializing in these fields. This information will be highlighted on the training page accordingly.
Thanks again!

Hi Helen,
This could be a good occasion to modify the title which should read B.A. BA (instead of B.A.B.A)
Thanks for your attention,

Hi everybody, I would like to apologize for the bad communication. I have not been told that the ad of the training webinar would be launched and was not able to complete every section and get it adapted to the format. This is my first webinar on proz so I do beg a little indulgence ,:) However, I wanted to point out a point. It is really possible to access quickly to volume and good rates even if the translator does not immediately have a perfect command of the economical/financial mechanism but I do agree with the comments, you won't be an experienced financial translator i 1 webinar, but for sure this was clear ,:)
