Congratulations to the winner in my language pair, English to Italian, a wonderfully competent translator. It is, however, a bit baffling to see that my translation was 4th, despite having the highest overall rating: clearly, voters who have already expressed their preference by rating the texts don't feel, or don't know, that they then should go back to actually vote for an entry. And why should they, life's too short, can't blame them. I think this is a big flaw in the system: expecting peers ... I think this is a big flaw in the system: expecting peers to rate as many texts are possible, in quite a detailed manner, and then go back and vote again for finalists makes the procedure unnecessarily complicated and should be corrected, IMO ▲ Collapse | | | Post removed: This post was hidden by a moderator or staff member for the following reason: http://www.proz.com/?sp=siterules&mode=show&category=Contest%20Rules |

Thanks for the hard work of Jared and the votes and inputs of fellow translators! You are awesome~ | | | Total voting points | Nov 14, 2014 |
Claudia, I think the reason you didn't win is because of lower total voting points. Overall rating is higher, but point count - lower. My thinking is that overall rating has higher degree of fairness. | | | Congratulations to the winner in En>ES pair! | Nov 15, 2014 |
Congratulatios, Estela Ponisio. This was the best translation in this pair, with no doubt. Awesome finalists too | |

Thank you Frisco. That's why I suggested to base wins on the overall ratings instead of expecting voters to come back once again to vote (which only few are prepared to do...) | | | Lyubov Tyurina Russian Federation Local time: 10:08 French to Russian + ...
It is reasonable to reduce number of contest participants to ProZ.com members exclusively not only for the most popular language pairs (English to...), but for many others (French to Russian for example), because there are too many participants, though not willing to rate the others' translations, so the Qualification phase becomes endless...

I see on http://www.proz.com/translation-contests/ that this contest has been deemed "Finished". Is it so?
I'll agree that Proz never had anything close to such a massive number of contestants, language pairs, etc., so it might take a while before all issues can be handled.

Congratulations to the winner Eng-Spa. A very good quality translation, Estela!
