The Observatory Cafe is situated in Birdwood Avenue, South Yarra opposite the Shrine of Remembrance, in the heart of the Royal Botanic Gardens. It neighbours the old Observatory buildings (1861) and is located next to the Royal Botanic Gardens visitors centre

Can I please have some directions? I arrive very early (9.00 AM) at the Airport and will catch a bus into the CBD, but wouldn't have a clue how to get from there to the observatory. Have a street directory, and an eye for the picturesque ‎- will walk. What time are we starting? Also, although he hasn't put himself on the list, Ali Darwish will be coming as well, and maybe somebody from E-Translate (Karen Yu most probably). Both are on Proz, but both only heard of it from me yesterday. I may also be able to dig a few other AUSITEER friends from the Melbournian woodwork. As soon, that is, as I know where I am going or coming.

One month left to our meeting! I need to remind you that in the next two weeks I will need confirmation about how many of you are coming to The Observatory. There are 9 people still showing as tentative. I need to say to the Observatory how many are coming.
The participants will have 200 brownies credited but you need to bring your ProZ.com ID so that I can forward it to ProZ.com the next day. Then you will get your brownies.
Please confirm as soon as you can and if you still have problems re. accomodation contact me again and I will try to help.

HI everybody! People ask accomodation in Melbourne and I am not the right person to advice, as live here and have not tried it. Go to Google and search b ackpackers or budget accomodation and you will get a lot of choices. The observatory is near the Botanic Gardens (South Side). Melbourne has trams so even if you are not near T.O. it will be easy to get there.

Finalized negotiations with The Observatory. If we are under 10 people, no booking is necessary, if we are more than 10, we pay $50 booking fee but we recover it after!!

HI All! Great to know we already have a photographer, an organizer and a large bottle of Barossa wine!
It would be a good idea for you all to glance at the FAQ related to Powwows as many relevant matters are explained there (such as agenda possibilities and others). You all need to bring your Proz.com identity number to be credited brownies. I will have an attendance sheet where to write these numbers.

We need a HOST and a REPORTER. Any volunteers?

I will be doing the booking with THE OBSERVATORY by the end of the week unless
instructed not to do so.

Ah, Claudia, the other thing to bring is a "competitive dance"(please read the FAQs).

Powwows are informal get-togethers of groups of ProZ.com members living in close proximity. The events are organized by local translators, for local translators.
