How pricing works
Simple rules — interpreters set rates, you see them upfront, and you only pay for what you use.
Pay by the minute
Live calls are billed by the second — we don't round up to the next minute, so you only pay for the time you're actually connected. (A small $0.50 minimum applies to very short calls.)
Interpreters set their own rates
Each interpreter publishes a per-minute rate for every language pair they work. The price you see — in the directory and at checkout — is the all-in rate you pay, including Remoto's service fee. Remoto handles billing and payouts for you.
No subscription, no lock-in
Pay as you go. There's no monthly fee to browse interpreters or keep an account. Scheduled bookings are paid per session at the interpreter's published rate.
A fraction of typical interpreting rates
Traditional phone and video interpreting is commonly billed at $3–5 a minute, often behind contracts and minimums. On Remoto, interpreters compete in an open marketplace — so the rate you see is usually a fraction of that.
Traditional agency / managed VRI
$3–5/ min
- Opaque, negotiated rates
- Contracts and monthly minimums
- Often rounded up to the minute
Remoto marketplace
Often under $1/ min
- Live rates, shown before you connect
- No contracts or minimums
- Billed by the second
Rates are set by individual interpreters and vary by language and specialization — medians for common pairs typically run well under $1/min. See live numbers below.

Pricing questions
- How am I charged for a call?
- On-demand live calls are billed per minute at the interpreter's published rate — measured to the second, so we never round up to the next minute. Scheduled bookings are paid per session. You always see the exact rate before you connect; rates are in US dollars (USD), and a small $0.50 minimum applies to very short calls.
- Is the price I see the full price?
- Yes. The per-minute rate shown in the directory and at checkout is the all-in price you pay — the interpreter's rate plus Remoto's service fee, with nothing added afterward. Optional extras like call recording (+$0.10/min) are always shown before you confirm.
- Who sets the rates?
- Each interpreter sets their own per-minute rate for every language pair they offer. Remoto doesn't impose a fixed price — you choose the interpreter and rate that fit your needs.
- Can I see prices before I sign up?
- Yes. Browse the interpreter directory and filter by your language pair to see live per-minute rates from real, available interpreters before creating an account.
- Is there a subscription or monthly fee?
- No. Remoto is pay-as-you-go. Browsing, accounts, and scheduling carry no subscription fee — you only pay for the interpreting you use.
- Do you support pro bono and non-profit calls?
- Yes. Eligible non-profit and pro bono programs can be set up with participating interpreters. Reach out and we'll help configure the right flow.
