I am an experienced translator and subtitler who takes a lot of pride in my work. I love languages, dictionaries, etymology and most of all I love thinking about how words can best be used to achieve the desired result in terms of the reader's or viewer's response. In short, I have the perfect job and one which makes me happy every day! I love building strong relationships with good clients and, having started out as a translation project manager, I believe I have a good understanding of what clients need.
Over more than 20 years of working in the translation industry, I have been lucky enough to work in a wide range of fascinating subject areas. Alongside my main field of specialisation, (medical texts for clinical trials, Ethics Committee letters and patient information), my clients have always valued my creative writing skills and frequently come to me first with any texts that require a creative approach or that need to read well in English. Eventually, in 2018, this led me into subtitling and I have since regularly subtitled Dutch, Belgian and French series which have often been shown on Channel 4 for Walter Presents.
I am now looking to expand my creative portfolio and fulfil my dream of working in literary translation as well.
I love the variety that this career offers me and I'm always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the integrity of my translations/subtitles is preserved. My current goal is to remind the world that human translation is an art. This is a profession that requires dedication and a love of continuous learning. I research every project thoroughly and I believe my efforts are evident in the end result.
