Riccardo Muti est considéré comme un des meilleurs, sinon le meilleur chef d'orchestre de sa génération. S'il n'est pas aisé de le joindre - le Maestro est très occupé, nous dit-on dans on entourage - il reste malgré tout disponible, agréable et bienveillant, une fois au téléphone. Les 30 et 31 août prochains, vous présenterez à la Philharmonie de Luxembourg, avec le Chicago Symphony Orchestra, deux programmes bien distincts: Hindemith et Prokofiev mardi; Rands, Strauss et Chostakovitch mercredi. Comment les avez-vous choisis et pourquoi? Riccardo Muti: Il n'y a pas de raison précise. On jouera Symphonie in Es de Hindemith, Roméo et Juliette de Prokofiev, Tod und Verklärung de Strauss, la Symphonie numéro 5 de Chostakovitch et Danza Petrificata de Bernard Rands, un musicien américain, qui a composé ce morceau exprès pour moi et pour le Symphony de Chicago. Ils sont tous représentatifs d'une littérature de la première moitié du XXe siècle, et ils permettent de faire ressortir les qualités extraordinaires de cet orchestre.
Translation - English "Our history is built on the arts" The renowned Italian conductor Riccardo Muti will open the new season of the Luxemburg Philharmonic at the end of this month. An interview with a great musician who does double duty as a great humanist.
Riccardo Muti is considered one of the best conductors of his generation, if not the very best. Though he is not easy to get in touch with – the Maestro is very busy, according to his entourage – once we had him on the phone he was nevertheless open, friendly and gracious. Nearing his return to Luxemburg at the end of the month, he gave his full attention to Le Quotidien and did not shy from controversial topics. Conversation with our journalist Pablo Chimienti
On August 30 and 31, you and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will grace the Luxemburg Philharmonic with two very distinct programs: Hindemith and Prokofiev on Tuesday, and Rands, Strauss and Shostakovich on Wednesday. How did you choose these composers and why? Riccardo Muti: There is no particular reason. We will perform Hindemith’s Symphony in E flat, Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Strauss’ Tod und Verklärung, Shostakovich’s 5th Symphony, and Danza Petrificata by Bernard Rands, an American musician, who composed this piece specially for me and for the Chicago Symphony. These works are all representative of a literature dating from the first half of the 20th Century, and showcase the orchestra's most extraordinary qualities.

A generalist French to English translator with nearly a decade of
experience and excellent research skills, now pursuing specialization in legal
translation.
I have been a full-time freelance translator since 2013, translating up to tens of thousands of words per month from French into English for agencies based in Europe and North America. I primarily work in the fields of law, finance, business, arts, culture and tourism.
In 2019, I began to pursue a specialization in legal translation, first earning a Certificate in Law at Université de Montréal (completed in 2021) and then enrolling in the Graduate Diploma in Legal Translation at McGill University (expected completion December 2023).
