Hello,
We are 30 translators from different countries who worked for an american translation agency (I created a Blueboard record for this agency and I wrote a comment about them).
We translated tv scripts for "Stargate" and we didn't get paid. We decided to send a complaint to the Attorney General of the State of California (this agency is located in L.A) and we intend to pay a lawyer.
What else can we do? Your advice is welcome.

What was their argument, if any, for not paying you? You can also authorize a person here to handle your communications with the concerned parties.

I am sorry to hear about your problem.
I agree with PRen. Once when I had problems getting paid from an UK agency, I contacted their client, (an American Company) and it worked wonders. Paid within two weeks.

and that they must not use your and the other translators' translations. This has always worked for me, they are scared stiff to loose their clients...

Get in touch with the original client and tell direct client that you own the copyright to the translation. That´s the fastest way for you guys to get paid.

We are all in touch, because we have everyone's email addresses.
The agency told to some of us (not to me) that some of us didn't respect the schedules. I don't believe them, because we are too many to get scammed.

When posting entries to the Blue Board, please keep comments factual, focusing on your own experience, expressing your likelihood of working again for that outsourcer. Understandable as they might be, personal comments ("fraudsters", "liars", etc.) will not only reflect badly on yourself - Jobs/BB moderators will ask you to re-post anyway.
Should the outsourcer attempt to exercise pressure, or threaten you regarding a BB entry made, please contact one of the Jobs/BB moderators.

I've been in the some situation. The agency, based in CA, late with the payment, didn't answer my e-mails and etc... a month after I file a complaint they paid.

Hi Elena,
The link you quoted won't work in the way you posted it - when quoting URLs, it helps to to enclose them with "url" and "/url" (replace the inverted commas with square brackets).

Hello Mafalda, Martin, Andres and Leticia,
We decided to write a letter to the original client, which is Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
Everyone of us will sign it and we will send it very very soon.
We don't know if it will work, but at least we will try.
Fortunately, we stick together and I'm very happy with this solidarity between us. | | |
