As I said before (another very similar poll): It wasn't my first career, but it will be my last for sure!

My job was very interesting but I was too much under pressure so I quitted.
I began translating because I was passionate about foreign languages (german, english and french).

Business admin manager, business unit manager... Nov 26, 2015

I answered "...totally different field" because I considered formal job/work, and I started in a totally different area, formally. However, translating was my first remunerated work for a while, before I got a formal job, and I never abandoned it. I kept translating as a second job since 1987, non-stop.

First career or first occupation? Nov 26, 2015

My first occupation was that of a street vendor in the summer, selling comb sets, needle sets and other household items. I was 14.

Translation was my first career, but it remains my main career although it has branched out to graphic design, typesetting, project management and translation review.

Former actor Nov 26, 2015

I worked professionally as a stage actor for almost 15 years before working as a translator. And this really helped me to strive as a translator, specially because of my memory and self-discipline skills.

Yes and no Nov 27, 2015

I worked as a bilingual secretary for several years, waiting for my break to get into the translation profession. I never considered it a career.
