Studio 2014 SP2, up-to-date, 11.2.4409.10
Running on Windows 7
Same issue on another PC with Windows 7
It happens with TXT, DOCX… I believe any filetype.
I can't type a single character, but I 'm able to paste text with CTRL+V and save succesfully the comment.
Have you come across of this issue? Any idea to solve it?
Thanks and best regards,

I've tried to reproduce this, Jesús, but can't. I've just updated from Studio 2014 version 3.2.4364 to 4409, to see if the comments box got broken in the latest version, but it hasn't. It works for me in the old and new builds.
Still, it's very strange that you can reproduce this in two different machines.
I'd try these solutions, one by one:
- Use a different TM (although the comments box is linked to the sdlxliff, not the TM)

- Open a different doc for translation through the single document path instead of a project to see if the problem is in a project setting.
- Reset all windows
- Repair Studio installation through the Control Panel
- Delete the three .xml settings files (I expect you know how to do this?)
- Log a support ticket
Hope one of these ideas helps,

I have just started using Trados Studio 2015 Freelance and get the same error message each time I use Add Comment and start typing in the comment text box.
I followed the advice in the KB article and changed the Editor setting as mentioned there, but to no avail.
By the way, it seems impossible to report this to SDL support without signing up for a pricey support contract.

Long story short: I think the culprit is this AVG or one of the latest Windows updates. Tomorrow I'll try to test that. I give up for today.
If I don't solve it, I'll have a chat with Guillaume.
Gerhard, just curious: have you got this AVG anti-virus installed on your PC? I'm sure it was updated a couple of days ago and we have problems since then.
Of course, thanks to Emma and Guillaume for your help.

I\'ve had the same problem since this morning. When I try typing a comment in Studio 2014, I get the message \"Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt\". However, the memory works fine and I get this with several different TMs. Any ideas? Thank you | | | same problem - | Aug 10, 2015 |
I have exactly the same problem except that it also occurs if I try to open a new project and give it a name, as soon as I start to type I get the same error message. I too recently updated AVG - so what exactly is the solution. Many thanks for any help. | | | Same problem - solved | Aug 12, 2015 |
Hi
I had the same problem. I couldn't add any comment to my files.
I have solved removing AVG antivirus from my computer (i've tried to shut it down temporarily, but that didn't work). Now all seems to work correctly. I can add comments again without receiving the error message.
Hope this can be helpful for you too.
