Hello

I am in the middle (or rather, at the end) of a project for delivery today, and have already translated the file I need to send. However, on booting up this morning, Trados for some reason asked me to set up for 'first time use'. When I clicked OK, it didn't prompt me to set anything up, just went straight to the Home screen. Now, when I try to open the file I need, I get the above message, along with 'hexidecimal value 0x00 is an invalid character. Line 1, position 1'.

I have tried to open the file in Notepad ++, but it just opens something that say 'Nul nul nul nul nul' all the way across the screen.

If I try to open the Project file, Trados just doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Can anyone help?

new project with different source file name/format Oct 6, 2014

Hi
did you try creating a new project, slightly tweaking the name/format of the source file (e.g. if it was a word file, try saving the original version to an earlier word version like .doc), then create a new project using this new file and your TM. Since you've already populated your TM, Trados should retranslate the new file in no time.

Thanks for your reply, Claudia.

Unfortunately for various reasons the text wasn't in the TM, so I had to re-translate the file from memory.
