At sentences with quotation marks Wf has developed a strange way of separation.
The ending is split off and when continuing to the next segment the quotation mark is forgotten.

"A segment with quotation marks". Next sentence without quotation marks.
Will look like this:

"A segment with quotation marks
".
Next sentence without quotation marks.

I cannot force the tool to do the segmentation right.

The part after "will look like this" wasn't displayed in your original post. (so I changed the offending characters into "[" and "]")

Anyway, I translated your two sample segments and can't see any problem with them:

Maybe? Dec 17, 2011

Did you add any abbreviations to your segmentation rules?

Or maybe changed the end-of-segment puncuation?

I used wf as it comes from the maker, no changes on my part.

You need to use "smart" quotes for the error to happen Dec 18, 2011

If you use "straight quotes," the error does not happen. But if you use “smart” quotes, it does.

smart quotes? Dec 18, 2011

I sometimes have the problem Heinrich describes, but I have a much older version of WFC so I'm not complaining about it... I think it has something to do with the French non-breaking space? Now I'm wondering what "smart" quotes are?

Smart quotes vary from one language to the other Dec 19, 2011

Smart quotes are what Word put for you via AutoFormat (if you have ticked 'Replace straight quotes with smart quotes'). They vary depending on the language selected:

“English Smart quotes”
« French smart quotes »
