Hi, you people,

I hope you're doing great. I know my question might have been asked - and answered- like 14 million times before, but have not found answers.

Here is the thing: I have purchased SDL Trados Studio 2009 (which includes 2007 and 2011 upon release), through Proz.com in a group buy.

Currently, I work with Trados 6.5. Could you please tell me what is compatible with what? Can I install Studio 2009 and not affect Trados 6.5 or should I delete the... See more

I hope you're doing great. I know my question might have been asked - and answered- like 14 million times before, but have not found answers.

Currently, I work with Trados 6.5. Could you please tell me what is compatible with what? Can I install Studio 2009 and not affect Trados 6.5 or should I delete the latter in order for the 2009 to work? (THAT would be a mistake).

The Trados Studio 2009 Group Buy through Proz came with the appealing advantage of a license for the future Trados 2011 (if it's any good) and another one for T 2007. I work on a daily basis with a colleague using a previous version of Trados, how far can we go, compatibility-wise? I can give him my T 2007 license if that is needed, but I need....ACTUAL, on the spot, hands-on FACTS.

Hi Mariana,

You can install 2007 and 2009 together, but the 2007 installation will overwrite your 6.5 I think (never tried it myself...).

I think, if I was determined to keep 6.5 in place I would do one of two things:

1. Install 6.5 inside a Virtual Machine and then install 2007 & 2009 on my PC

2. Wait for 2011 and install this alongside 6.5 as this will operate independently.

You can install 2007 and 2009 together, but the 2007 installation will overwrite your 6.5 I think (never tried it myself...).
