Simon & Schuster's Dictionary lists "Percutir" as: "To percuss, knock, strike", and also lists "percusor" as "firing pin". Therefore it would seem logical that this phrase refers to determining whether or not the firing pin of a certain weapon struck the percussion cap of the cartridge.
