This is from a Mexican road traffic accident report. The copy I have has scanned and this part of the text is handwritten. I have had to blow the text up on the screen and squint a lot and still cannot be 100% sure that this is the word:-
OBJETO FIJO: 7 ?trames de ?velenza metalica etc.

to David again it definitely doesn't look like baliza. I reckon you are right about it being a guardrail. it was on a main highway. I don't think I'll be able to get any more info on it - it's come to me via a UK agency, whose client is probably an insurance broker for a Mexican insurance company, who got the report via the policy holder who got it from the police! you know how it is, sometimes it is really very unlikely that you can get any more info from the person who wrote the report. I'm perfectly happy with your original answer, but not grading yet as abiding by the Kudoz rules.

I Imagine it should read "tramos" - i.e., sections, and what first springs to mind for "velenza" is that perhaps they're referring to sections of metal guardrail - Does the report say anything about the car(s) crashing into or damaging this "velenza"?

Could it be \"baliza\" instead of \"velenza\", i.e., some kind of metal marker, signposts, or similar? It would also help to know where the accident took place, on a motorway, main road, etc.
