Given the sort of relationship or exchange here, especially taking into account the implied norms of doctor-patient confidentiality, I believe that "confide" sets the appropriate tone.

the idea of a giver and a receiver - emphasises the ethical issue. The element of trust/reliance is implied in the term "care receiver", even though it isn't made explicit

NB, this is the order it collocates in EN; it would sound wrong to say "the receiver and the giver"
