The reference here is to soccer players, each of whom use a particular model of a major company's athletic shoes.

El jugador bandera de cada bota recibe cuatro o cinco visitas a lo largo del ano....

I thought of "flagship player for each shoe" but I could find no similar web references.

"Each shoe's [super]star also does not seem to work.

Any ideas?

It appears that this is what they are saying.... I think they are referring to the featured player or soccer "star" who represents each shoe company, etc..... Anyway, I have never really heard of a "flagship" player in any context..... I hope this will help...
