Hello Maria. It might help if you were to clarify your/your client's understanding of what takes place in a "departamento de redaccin" (editing or writing?). Good luck!!

neutral Marcelo González : I'm not sure, but wouldn't this be where the editor (and his or her staff) might work? Also, this might lead some to wonder (perhaps incorrectly) whether this office has anything to do with the writing of editorials (which are opinion pieces). Regards.

news department

This is where the writing of (general) news takes place (as opposed to the editorial office, which might be understood as the place where either the editing is done, or where editorials are written).

desk editor

As Marcelo points out, "editorial office" refers to the people who write la opinión; the people who edit the news stories and features are called desk editors, and there are several in every department. See the link below. There the "news desk editors" are listed separately, but desk editors are also sprinkled about in other departments.

agree Marcelo González : You're right. :-) >If MargaEsther is correct, about the responsabiliities of those in "redaccion," this is the best option. :-)

Gracias, Marcelo. WIthout more context, how can we know? I doubt that all papers (esp. transnationally) are organized the same way...
