Spanish term

Convocatoria

Homework / test Spanish to English Other Education / Pedagogy Academia
This term is used in a Spanish (from Spain) college transcript and I am trying to find an appropriate translation that is less direct and more natural sounding than "convocation". Here is how it is used:

"Convocatoria: el valor mostrado en la columna "conv" hace referencia al mes en que se obtiene la calificación o se convalida o adapta la asignatura."

From my understanding, the "convocatoria" is the session of exams at the end of the semester. Would something like "End of term", or "Evaluation" be appropriate here in the context of a translated academic transcript?

Evaluation Session or Evaluation Period

The word convocatoria has numerous meanings and depends on the context as pointed out by you. In your context, the nearest translation would be "evaluation session" or "evaluation period"; this obviously is not a literal translation of the word to convocation, but instead a translation of what the meaning portrays in that context.
Example sentence:

CONVOCATORIA EXTRAORDINARIA DE FEBRERO – FIN DE ESTUDIOS DE GRADO

Febuary Evaluation Period - Finalisation of Bachelor's degree studies

Exam period

As Mikail explained, in this context 'convocatoria' refers to the different periods during which students sit exams.

Both Examination or Exam are valid, so just sharing another option :)
Example sentence:

January exam period: 13 - 24 January 2020; Summer exam period: 18 May - 5 June 2020

Please ensure you are available for all the dates during the main summer exam period and the supplementary exam period.

Month

I know it's a bit weird, but there's no word in English for "convocatoria" in this sense. At university, you have a limited number of attempts (convocatorias) to pass an exam. Normally this "convocatorias' are on June, July and September. As you can only write the month in that column and, of course you cannot really explain what "convocatoria" is, I'd just write month, since"convocatoria" here is used to express that, the month when the subject was passed. Hope it helps
