Spanish term

beneficiar (in this context)

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
This has to do with conflict of interest and the situations that could be considered a such:

Votaciones que afecten de modo singular al socio, bien porque se trate de valorar la justa causa de excusa aducida para no aceptar un cargo o función, bien porque se vaya a decidir sobre si procede eximir o **beneficiar**, temporalmente y por causa justificada, a aquel respecto al cumplimiento de determinadas obligaciones.

"...because a decision is being made on whether to excuse or ??? ...the member in relation to compliance with certain obligations.

Discussion

Ronnie McKee Apr 12, 2009:
Does it make sense? I agree with the gist of how you are translating this. And given that, I don't see how benefit is supported by the context. Could it be that beneficiar is being used almost like a synonym for exempt or excuse. Could it be relieve? as in exempting him from or relieving him of the duty to meet certain obligations...... I'm just having trouble figuring out how benefit or advantageous works, even though its what we expect the word to mean...

Even in this context I believe that 'benefit' is the right term.
