commercial gourmet tomatoes are usually modern varieties, often trademarked/patented, though couldn't find much in the way of links - links tend to refer to very nicely flavoured old fashioned varieties (heirloom ones), but gourmet types are on sale in supermarkets here (UK) (at decidedly higher price than the standard, loose ones!)
