Thank you!
agree Olga Cotey : Agree, this is an actual term. I also found this: A marriage is irretrievably broken “where either or both parties are unable or refuse to cohabit and there are no prospects for reconciliation.” Harwell v. Harwell, 233 Ga. 89, 91 (1974).

Thank you!
agree Rachel Douglas : True, "non-marital cohabitation" is a more common term than this, but "marital cohabitation" is one, too: "conjugal relations and marital cohabitation have become impossible..."

Thank you!
agree Michael Korovkin : absolutely! "Married life" is a totally different kettle of fish.Oddly enough it doesn't necassarly imply cohabitation, and vice versa.

joint residency

residency supposed to mean living at particular address
Peer comment(s):

disagree Libero_Lang_Lab : I don't think residency is generally used in this context. That sounds like sth that two musicians or artists might have rather than a married couple

disagree Gabrielle Leyden : Agree with Dan Brennan. Joint residency (often used for dance and theater companies) and marital life are two different things; they are just talking about the impossibility of living together and maintaining their marital relationship.
