: I don't think residency is generally used in this context. That sounds like sth that two musicians or artists might have rather than a married couple

: Agree with Dan Brennan. Joint residency (often used for dance and theater companies) and marital life are two different things; they are just talking about the impossibility of living together and maintaining their marital relationship.
